YPCC Young Player Development Squad

A 10 week skill development program for young players led by former West Indian Test player Kenroy Peters.

About this Event

What is the Young Player Development Squad?

It’s a 10 week skill development program for young players led by former West Indian Test player Kenroy Peters.

It’s objective is to support young players successfully transition into senior cricketers.

All players will have individual assessments done and development plans created, and receive outstanding skills and game sense coaching.

Players are invited by the Club to participate. The club is inviting players who have been amongst the highest run or wicket takers at U14, U15 & U13 girls and 16 level, or have played in higher senior XI teams. We have 40 places available.

How will it work?

We have four groups of 10 players who will do a 90 minute session on a Monday evening or Sunday for 10 weeks.

What’s commitment required if you’re a member of the Young Player Development Squad?

All players will be required to pay $100 towards the 10 week program. The club will waive this fee if a player is unemployed or facing financial difficulty.

All players must commit to attending all 10 sessions, or let Kenroy know you’re unable to attend.

All players must support each other to improve. Players will be required to leave the squad if their behaviour undermines the opportunity of their fellow players to learn.

When will the Squad start training?

The Covid-19 pandemic is creating great uncertainty for everyone. The best we can say is the program will start as soon as the Victorian Government allows groups of 10 people to do physical activity outside.

Why can’t all young players participate?

We simply don’t have the resources to offer small group coaching to all young players. But we do invite all interested young players to do private small group or one-on-one coaching with Kenroy Peters. Many have already taken up this opportunity over winter.

Kenroy is also the Junior Head Mixed Coach and will be helping players from U10s to U16s be the best they can be and have doing it!
